2010: A New Beginning for the Four Feathers Federation and our Nations

Originally, Indian Princesses and Indian Guides was formed as an initiative of the YMCA.

In 2008 and 2009, things changed for the Four Feathers Federation and our Nations.  While the local Nations and Tribes (and kids!) were having a good time and learning, the central Y management had plans to dramatically change the program.  Meetings and surveys ensued to figure out the future of the program.  By the end of the 2008 program year (June 2009), the members of the Four Feathers Federation voted to separate from the YMCA. 

The Nations are proud to be part of the Guides & Princess of McHenry County to further teach our children the qualities of Indian culture that Harold Keltner envisioned almost 90 years ago. In 2010, the Guides & Princesses of McHenry County sought the assistance of the Crystal Lake Park District in managing the program. Both the Crystal Lake Park District and Guides & Princesses of McHenry County are looking forward to a rewarding relationship for years to come.
