5 NEW Art & Craft Classes for Adults offered at Crystal Lake Park District

The list of art and craft classes for adults at the Crystal Lake Park District just expanded with the release of the Winter/Spring brochure. Not only will participants notice their current favorites like Watercolor Painting, Creative Crochet and Art Attack, there are several new titles that will appeal to artists of all abilities and interests. Register online at www.crystallakeparks.org or in person at the Crystal Lake Park District Administrative Office, One East Crystal Lake Avenue, Crystal Lake. Registration deadline is 3 days prior to the class unless noted otherwise.

Watercolor Painting

Ages 18 & up

Marge will guide you through creating lovely paintings using watercolors. Experienced or no experience painters are welcome and enjoy socializing with the class! Picture painted will be determined at the first class.

Art Attack Sip and Paint BYOB

Ages 21 & up

Grab a friend or family member and join us for this "No talent necessary" class! Local artist, Julie Kukreja will give stroke-by-stroke instruction to make an 11x14 canvas acrylic painting. Bring your favorite beverage and snacks to nibble on while you relax and create your masterpiece. All materials provided. New paintings are featured each month and are posted on the Park District web page under art and the online calendar.

Mindfulness Through Art

Ages 18 & up

Experiment with different art techniques and mediums during this 8 week class on how to incorporate Mindfulness in your daily life. Students will experiment with different painting and drawing techniques that will help create a beautiful art journal to express their thoughts or inspirations. No prior art experience is necessary as these techniques are fluid and create on their own. Some techniques are: suminagashi marbling, bleeding tissue paper painting, string painting, Zentangle art and other fun mediums and techniques. Materials will be provided but a medium/small sketch book is required. Look for the thicker paper sketch books for multi media work.

Intro to Digital Photography

Ages 16 & Up

Come learn the basics of your digital SLR camera from shutter speed, white balance, metering, depth of field, ISO, composition and more! Take your photography to the next level and learn how to go from camera to social media with the help of an experienced photographer. Digital camera required.

Cookie Decorating

Ages 21 & Up

Gather your friends for a night out with cookie decorating, partying and fun! Laugh, sip and decorate while your experienced and energetic artist guides you! Light refreshments provided, but feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks as well. Please bring a tray or container to transport your cookies home.

Unfinished Craft Object Drop In

Ages 18 & up

Come for a few hours or stay the entire day. You will need to bring your project and supplies. Sewing machines welcome. Registration is not required for this activity. Just walk in and pay at door!

Creative Crochet

Ages 16 & Up

This class is designed for beginner to advanced crocheters. The classes are kept small to give individual attention to all students as even advanced crocheters need help sometimes. All you need to bring is the willingness to learn a new craft and a size G crochet hook, and we will supply the yarn. If you are just having trouble with a pattern, bring it to class and we'll get you going again.

Sew Easy

Ages 10 & Up

Who knew sewing could be so easy?! Learn basic sewing techniques as you get step by step instructions on how to create simple projects such as zipper pouches, pillows and tote bags. Only two sewing machines will be available for group use, so we recommend that you bring your own. Basic sewing machine skills are required. A supply list will be provided prior to the class.
