Enjoy a beautiful night under the stars as we light a trail through our magnificent Veteran Acres. Our illuminated trails (approx. 1.3 mi) is a mixture of paved, gravel and grassy surfaces.

Location: Trail entrance will begin at the Veteran Acres Picnic Shelter, 431 N. Walkup Avenue, Crystal Lake

FREE to attend but donation of $1 per person/$5 max per family appreciated to support future Nature Center programs.

Advance registration not required, just stop by.

2021 Kris Kringle german holiday tea

Many of the early settlers in the Crystal Lake area were of German ancestry including Henrietta and Gustavus Palmer. Experience a holiday tea with historic German roots and traditions. Suitable for all ages.

Come join the coolest volleyball event ever! Only for adults 21 and older, this event includes organized volleyball games in the snow with many breaks for hot chili and cold adult beverages (included-limited!)

Bring your friends to compete in the 4-person recreation division or if you are a competitive athlete, join the 2-person tournaments. All teams are guaranteed at least 4 games to 21 and make the playoffs too! Awards are for championship teams and a national bid will be given to the top team in each division. Registration Deadline: Feb 7. Face coverings not required while playing.

Our 50th Anniversary! The Chili Open features a traditional 9-hole golf tournament held on our frozen Crystal Lake! This February tournament is steeped in generations of memories. Foursomes receive some swag and a bowl of chili "to go."

While playing our 18 hole course, families will complete fun challenges and win prizes! We'll be providing hot cocoa! Face coverings recommended.

2021 concerts in the park survey

Each week the Crystal Lake Park District hosts a regional band to perform at Main Beach. Pack a dinner, pull out a blanket and enjoy a great night of free entertainment lakeside. Concerts are held on Tuesdays at 7 PM beginning June-August. Food and beverage (beer and wine) and small charcoal grills are allowed (no glass please.) In the event of inclement weather, decision to reschedule the concert will be made by 4 pm. Check status by calling 815.410.4475 ext 6.

PARKING

Please park in the following areas for concert evenings: Main Beach parking lot, grass triangle across the street from the Lakeside Arts in the Park (Dole Mansion) and South Elementary. Please do not park at the boat gate, Dole Mansion or Seminary Park.
